Spring 2012 Spotlight Feature
Working Llama and Individual

We are in the process of majorly overhauling the Team Jorjio web site and with the ILR proclaiming 2012 as the Year of the Working Llama, we are doing a new feature to the Team Jorjio web site!  Once a quarter, Team Jorjio will spotlight past or present exceptional working llamas and individuals who excelled at having fun and sharing that fun with others!  Here is our first feature spotlight!

Kay Patterson of Hinterland Ranch, Sisters, OR, often credited with founding the llama industry in North America, coined the now famous phrase "Llamas are Fun!".  The photo was taken in 1992 and was featured on the back cover of Kay’s sale catalog for her first Walkabout production sale in 1993.  Kay is pictured here with DEFOE 1989 M (Premium x Dynaqueen) whom she trained to drive in 1992.

Kay's first Hinterland dog, Sasha (1990-2003), loved to sit in the seat with her.  Sasha was Tasha’s soul mate (Kay’s current Hinterland dog) and died with doggy dignity May 24, 2003 when Eric and Kay were camped on the Oregon Desert near Fort Rock.  Sasha sent Tasha to Kay a year to the day later.

DEFOE was a wonderful driving male with a super personality.  Kay sold him to Ruthelda & Garth Holmes (an older couple who wanted a driving llama to have fun with and use as a breeding male) in Idaho in 1994.   Yup, that's right.  Kay had working llamas!

Under major overhaul!
Come back soon!
